5 Line Profile + the Projection Field

Tired of not being seen for who you really are but who OTHERS think you are?

Maybe you just feel like others just don’t get you?

Welcome to the Projection field. If you are a 5th line profile (2/5, 5/2, 5/1, 3/5, 1/5, etc.) then you have what we lovingly call a projection field.

I see it as being in a bubble: permeable, breathable, + often a bit distorted.

In Human Design, I am a 3/5 profile.

If you are new to Human Design, your profile is how you connect + communicate with the world.  Your first number, for me it is a 3, is conscious where the second number, a 5 for me, is unconscious.  If you want to learn your Profile, Grab a copy of your chart here>>>

That means I am aware of how my 3rd line helps me consciously connect + communicate with the world by exploring & racking up life experiences to figure out what works & what doesn’t.  THAT is what I share with my audience.

No mistakes here. Just what NOT to do next time.

My 5 line is unconscious though, so I usually don’t realize what’s up until I’m in it.
But I have learned some things about navigating a 5th line I thought I’d share.

So, As a 5 line I am constantly dealing with my own personal filter called the projection field.
I see it as a lens or bubble that filters how others see me, hear me, & understand me.

Needless to say it can cause a lot of miscommunication and resentment from unmet expectations if I’m not clear up front.

  1. Be clear & set expectations up front.
  2. Know who you are & what you want out of this interaction.
  3. Be Proactive! Be aware of the possibility of being misunderstood + take precautions.
  4. If something doesn’t feel right, check in. Is it yours? If not, respond accordingly.
  5. If it is yours, acknowledge it and take responsibility.

It is part of being a 5th line…and also if you are Human Design projector (obviously) or responding from influences of any of the projected gates in your chart. (Curious, then you need a reading).
So, how do you know if you are projecting?

Your projection field can act as a mirror meaning what someone feels in themselves they see in you…or what you see in yourself you also start to see in others.

Like when you start to notice everyone is having the same problem today or you keep getting irritated at the same thing several times it’s a sign…it might actually be you projecting that problem onto everyone else, not them.

Q to ask yourself:  Is this mine?  Am I feeling like (whatever the problem is)?

What it looks like when I’m projecting (totally mine, not someone else’s): I see problems in others & offer solutions without being asked or in response. Like my mom telling me she is having all these health issues & I tell her she needs to stop eating sugar. Nope, that’s me, not necessarily her. She didn’t ask for me to solve her problem for her.

5th lines like to fix things.

What it feels like when I’m being projected upon (not mine): like when my sister tells me I need to lose weight & exercise more when in truth she feels not happy in her body + secretly wants that for herself but can’t seem to own it.

I see this like a lens that can be focused + clear or out of focus + distorted.

As you learn to be more of who you are wired to be that lens will become clearer. Not to say it will come unfocused from time to time because we are all conditioned to not be ourselves all the time. It’s a process.

My Experience: I first realized how I was filtering through my projection field when I first started doing psychic readings.  I’d have a client asking me questions.  I’d connect to Spirit, then as I received the messages I’d translate what I thought they meant…and my client wasn’t’ resonating with the reading at all.  What the hell?  Then I got it.  Oh, all I have to do is tell them exactly verbatim what I get. Then I had clients showing up in droves.  True story.

Also, 5th lines are often referred to as a Savior until we are the devil when we stay in the projection role too long. Getting asked to be Girl Scout leader. Savior. Then devil when we had to dissolve the troop 5 years later because it was too much to manage by myself when everyone else abandoned ship.

People will see you the way they want to see you, the way they think you are until you show up anchored in being you.

But first you’ve got to know how you are wired + live it.  It’s quite an experiment!
